She trapped them the moment the family moved to the Ozarks, arguably long before that, when Marty first began his work for the cartel. Just when they're all back together as a family, it seems possible it will all be ripped apart when the fateful car crash that's been teased all season finally happens. Everyone makes it out okay it seems, except for Wendy, who is stuck in the car. After a tense moment, they get her out and she's ultimately okay, if a little banged up.

If she’d have left him alone, despite his suffering, he’d still be alive. By the end of the first half of the season, Ruth emotionally learns that her cousin Wyatt (Charlie Tahan) Langmore is unable to leave the Ozarks with her, instead planning to marry Darlene (Lisa Emery). After pleading with Wyatt not to go, Ruth asks Frank Cosgrove Jr. (Joseph Sikora) to murder Darlene as retribution for killing his father.
How Does Ozark End for Ruth?
Jonah later tells her that Javi was responsible for killing Wyatt. Upon the second half of the season, Ruth murdered Javi after learning what he had done. In retaliation, Javi’s mother followed her home and killed her. After Wyatt's death, she inherited his estate as well as Darlene's, whom he married ahead of his death.

The first person to die in Ozark season 4 part 2 is none other than Javi Elizondro, Omar Navarro's (Felix Solis) nephew – and the brand new boss of the cartel. Ozark season 4 part 2 is here, which means we finally know how Netflix's crime series ends. Ruth Langmore’s cousin was known as the brains of the family, and throughout the series, went a couple of different directions. Perhaps the most surprising twist came for Wyatt in Season 3, when Darlene Snell took him in as a lover. The two formed a real romance despite their age difference, and co-parented the little baby Zeke. Mason's son Zeke is taken by the state, which led him to blame the Byrdes for what happened.

By the time the series nears its end, Ruth is seeing her entire family at home as if they are alive. Whether they are ghosts or hallucinations, it's a familiar trope in Greek Tragedy that the hero sees apparitions of those who have had died before they themselves meet their fate. Firstly, Ruth is a Langmore - who we learn from the outset of the show are cursed.

Since the early days of Ozark, Mundy has maintained that the show is about family. Yet as the Byrdes descended further into criminal darkness in seasons three and four, Wendy began making decisions that felt increasingly reckless for her family. But Mundy says the couple was just really testing the bounds of their marriage. The scene in which Ruth dies—shot by Javi’s mother Camila (Veronica Falcon)—was the final scene that the Ozark cast and crew filmed in the series. But in plotting out the death of such a beloved character, it was important to Mundy that her fate be self-propelled. So Ruth’s death is a direct result of her decision to avenge Wyatt’s death by killing Javi.
All episodes of Ozark are now streaming on Netflix. He wants her to help him get the kids back from Wendy's dad. He threatens to tell Javi's mom, Camila (Veronica Falcón), what really happened to him if Ruth doesn't help. To see Jonah Byrde pick up the gun in last scene of Ozark was heart breaking. Sattem discovers that Wendy had been lying about the last time she saw Ben and got photo evidence of Wendy taking Ben into the diner that was to be the site of his last known appearance.
It seems the Byrdes' problems are never truly over, even when they come out on top. Marty goes to Ruth and tells her Navarro is going to be out of the picture and he can keep her safe, which of course he's said many times before. He says they're meeting with the FBI to get Navarro out, but he needs Ruth to continue to money launder out of the casino for them. "I always have time for my f---ing government," she says, agreeing to the meeting in a way that only Ruth can.
A few tables away, Camila shows up with Marty and Wendy and pharmaceutical queen Clare Shaw (Katrina Lenk). Ultimately, she gives up Ruth and tells Camila the whole story. First, Marty and Wendy go to see Navarro who (correctly) says he believes his sister was the one who tried to kill him earlier in the season. Navarro gives them a number of someone in Chicago who will "take care of it" — meaning, murder his sister. Wendy and Marty play along and lie, saying that all the steps in the process to free him are good to go. Wendy (Laura Linney) is still in the mental health institution she checked herself into, and she refuses to leave unless she gets custody of her kids back.
Later in the first episode back, she tracked down Javi and shot him to death — in front of Marty, Wendy and Clare Shaw (Katrina Lenk). Ahead of that, most of the series plot points are tied up in a neat bow. Marty blackmail's Ruth to bring back Jonah and Charlotte from their evil grandfather.
At the end of Ozark season 4 part 1, Ruth ferociously avowed that she would kill Javi as revenge for the murder of her cousin. But when part 2 begins, there's some doubt over whether she'll really do it. She seems to be weighing her options, and Three (Carson Holmes) even tells her that Wyatt wouldn't want her to do this.
So she’s sort of persona non grata [at work], but publicly kind of a hero. When Ruth arrives back to the former location of the Langmore trailers, Camila is already there waiting for her. The new cartel boss holds Ruth at gunpoint, but she doesn't back down – in fact, Ruth says she's not sorry, and even encourages Camila to pull the trigger when she doesn't immediately fire. Eventually, though, Camila does shoot, and Ruth dies. Cabrera is tortured in the same room Marty was back in season 3, under Marty's supervision. Eventually, Cabrera breaks and falsely confesses to trying to have Navarro killed.
